A new report by the Department of Transport says many Canadians are opting out of international flights.
It says the number of cancellations is at a record high.
The study also finds that the government has not done enough to increase transparency and reduce the number and severity of cancellions.
The report is the latest in a string of reports on the government’s failures to keep up with changes in the global economy.
The findings come as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government prepares to make another trip to China to make a speech.
Trudeau is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday.
The report comes as Transport Minister Marc Garneau is set to meet with business leaders to talk about how to improve the system of air travel, including by increasing the transparency of travel information.
The department said Wednesday that the information was not made available to the public before the government announced the reforms.
